10 things on my notice board

You can tell a lot about a person from what they pin on their notice board. At least that is true for me.

1. A 6 year old grass rose made and dipped into a hot spring for me by a lady at a Maori village in New Zealand when I was 8.

2. A ticket to see Much Ado about Nothing at the Minack theatre last summer.

3. Various doodles of Pride and Prejudice characters and Despondent guys >>

4. A photo of a friend and I on a one day surfing course for my 12th birthday.

5. A card that says "Be HAPPY it drives people CRAZY".

6. A letter for a course with Birmingham Royal Ballet.

7. Tickets to Harry Potter world.

8. A cross given to me by my grandparents for my confirmation.

9. A list of names of people who contributed to stopping elephant poaching.

10. A big A4 photo of my family from about 4 years ago.

So what does that say about me? I'm not sure I want to know! What is on your notice board?

101 Dalmatians

Dalmatians. Took me ages to work out how to spell that.

Hi. No I haven't turned into Cruella di vil over night (at least I think I haven't?), instead something far more exciting has happened. If you would be so kind as to queue the drumroll....

This is official my 101st blog post!!

*multi coloured streamers*

Here's to a million and 1 Dalmatians more. Millie x

These are a few of my favourite things (at the moment)

1. Dark purple nail varnish
I own a Barry M Quick Dry in Sprint Finish and a Seventeen Lasting Fix nail Colour both gorgeous shades of dark purple. No matter how long I leave the colour on for, the colour still manages to never clash with what I wear.

2. Pride and Prejudice.
The book, notes, manga, TV series, film, anything vaguely Lizzie Bennet or Mr Darcy related basically.

3 Willow by Jasmine Thompson
I have said this before but this girls voice....aahh, wow.

4. Full length, Empire line, white dresses with long gloves.
Notice the Pride and Prejudice theme continuing....let's just say, I really, really would like one. Not sure where I would wear it though....

5. The Durrells
I actually need to know what happens.
  • Does Larry's second book get published
  • What happens to Lesley and his general happiness
  • Does Margo see her gardener again - please say she does, please.
  • Please don't bring the drunk captain back AGAIN. Just no.
  • Did anyone else nearly die with cringing at the bit with the yacht?
  • What's wrong with miniature pianos? No seriously, what is?
  • I feel for Larry about finishing all his books. Doesn't everyone?

6. Smiggle stationary
I mean does anyone know of another place that sells juice carton shaped pencils cases?

Always that awkward situation

Before you ask, No the awkward situation did not involve toffee apples, I took these a few weeks ago.

What Awkward situation?  Photos. Posed photos. In costume. Did I mention what costume? No. Because as someone quite rightly pointed out those costumes made us look like we stepped out of a nursery rhyme. No kidding.

Anyway, we had photos taken in our costumes for a dance show.
This always poses some problems -

Trying to be really clever and turn or jump is ok until you realise you're not going to get a perfect picture the first time and you end up doing the same coupe turn 50 times over and get dizzy and fall over. Not a good look to be honest.

Stretching in costume whilst waiting. That was never going to turn out right.

Waiting in between photos. While the lady checks how the photo turned out or adjusts the light and you're just standing there in front of the big white screen and everybody is looking at you. What am I supposed to do with my hands? Wait - should I be posing? Is she ready? Oh is this the point when I smile? No, not yet. Ooops.

Make up. Like BRIGHT RED lipstick and blue eye shadow kind of make up.

Forgetting to smile. Why. Why do I do that? And then when the camera lady has to tell you to smile like she does with the three year olds. Embarrassing.

Didn't everyone else's pictures take far less time?

p.s. I have some drafts in the line up so I will be blogging regularly again. Probably.

My blogging inspiration

To tell the truth I don't really have a method as such, not like some people who have a planning diary and all that. I get an idea, I think of how to tell you about the idea in a funny/interesting way, then I write it, get someone to grammar check and hit publish. End of. But I get the ideas in the first place from all sorts of things.

1. Taking a picture and basing the post around it.
I am constantly taking pictures and the people I am with think I am really weird for just suddenly stopping in the middle of the pavement, oh look a pretty flower, I must take a photo. Jess definitely thought I was weird when I took a picture of my veggie burger in that diner for this post!

2. Reading.
Either books/guides/how to's or other people's blogs. I obviously don't copy content, but reading other peoples blogs is a really good way of getting ideas to adapt for yourself. Say I saw a blogger post their current playlist, so I decided to post my own, way back then this time last year.

3. Tv/documentary's/films/cinema.
This is obvious, I am constantly blogging about movies.

4. Things people say.
Some of the funniest things I have posted were based on something that I either word puked or someone else did. I once did an entire post on the things me and a friend said at a sleepover.

5. Crafty stuff, recipes and how to's
Beware if you bake anything in my house as a picture will soon appear on my blog!

6. Music
I listen to a song *oh that's nice, lets gush about it on my blog*.

How do you get inspiration? Millie x
