10 things on my notice board

You can tell a lot about a person from what they pin on their notice board. At least that is true for me.

1. A 6 year old grass rose made and dipped into a hot spring for me by a lady at a Maori village in New Zealand when I was 8.

2. A ticket to see Much Ado about Nothing at the Minack theatre last summer.

3. Various doodles of Pride and Prejudice characters and Despondent guys >>

4. A photo of a friend and I on a one day surfing course for my 12th birthday.

5. A card that says "Be HAPPY it drives people CRAZY".

6. A letter for a course with Birmingham Royal Ballet.

7. Tickets to Harry Potter world.

8. A cross given to me by my grandparents for my confirmation.

9. A list of names of people who contributed to stopping elephant poaching.

10. A big A4 photo of my family from about 4 years ago.

So what does that say about me? I'm not sure I want to know! What is on your notice board?

Always that awkward situation

Before you ask, No the awkward situation did not involve toffee apples, I took these a few weeks ago.

What Awkward situation?  Photos. Posed photos. In costume. Did I mention what costume? No. Because as someone quite rightly pointed out those costumes made us look like we stepped out of a nursery rhyme. No kidding.

Anyway, we had photos taken in our costumes for a dance show.
This always poses some problems -

Trying to be really clever and turn or jump is ok until you realise you're not going to get a perfect picture the first time and you end up doing the same coupe turn 50 times over and get dizzy and fall over. Not a good look to be honest.

Stretching in costume whilst waiting. That was never going to turn out right.

Waiting in between photos. While the lady checks how the photo turned out or adjusts the light and you're just standing there in front of the big white screen and everybody is looking at you. What am I supposed to do with my hands? Wait - should I be posing? Is she ready? Oh is this the point when I smile? No, not yet. Ooops.

Make up. Like BRIGHT RED lipstick and blue eye shadow kind of make up.

Forgetting to smile. Why. Why do I do that? And then when the camera lady has to tell you to smile like she does with the three year olds. Embarrassing.

Didn't everyone else's pictures take far less time?

p.s. I have some drafts in the line up so I will be blogging regularly again. Probably.

Easter and Excuses

So. Let's start with Happy Easter and move onto my excuses for not blogging *wince*.

1. My whole family had flu and all I did for 2 weeks was sit on the sofa watching Next Step re-runs and eating yogurt. I had forgotten how amazing Muller fruit corners are.

2. Straight after the flu I had to dance every Friday, Saturday, Sunday for three weeks and slept the weekdays. No kidding.

Am I forgiven? Probably not but I tried....

So, did you have a good Easter?

I got a very adorable toy rabbit and some chocolate!!
I now have the difficult job of naming the bunny....Here are the names my friend and I came up with - it's a girl by the way -,

1. Beatrice

or

2. Hero

and if it was a guy we decided it would be called either,

1. Edward Watson

or

2. Kenneth

but it looks like a girl so I think Beatrice is the best option!!

Did anyone guess what 3 of those names mean? The Much Ado about Nothing theme?!!

Anyway I will post soon and get back to regular blogging providing I don't get ill again....

2 months of resolutions, let's take a look back

This time two months ago I posted a resolutions post, like most bloggers. Now I decided to look back and see how I was doing with them!

Blog regularly Well, I think I can tick this one!

Try not to break my phone This was always a bit of a silly one, but I am pleased to say that I haven't broken it....yet!

Cook more Ahh, yes. Well. This failed drastically. I even forgot this was one of my resolutions until I looked back!

Take a run or at least a walk everyday This was never going to work. But I do run or walk about 3 times a week on average, so not exactly, but halfway there?!

Dance better  Yeh, well I don't actually know if this is happening? But I am so trying harder.

Ok, basically what happened here is that I didn't follow my own advice. I didn't do the whole organise into small steps, stick stickers on your calendar thing. Nor did I follow advice number 6. which was, Don't give up on small things. Like rain. It is so hard to force yourself to run in the rain. I mean who wants to run down a country lane in the rain? That is basically just like asking to ruin your leggings with mud.

Anyway I think the conclusion of that is, basically:

I suck at keeping at things, except things I want to do, aka blog, dance....xx

10 random bits of my life this fortnight

Hi. Well. I am not going to be like one of those people who are all like "Oh my gosh, I am so so sorry I haven't posted, I feel awful, but I have just been so so busy, excuse, excuse....", because that just gets boring after a while. Actually I am very guilty of doing that when I forgot to post everyday in advent for Christmas 2015. But whatever. I am just going to say that I actually have nothing interesting to post except some random thoughts/reviews/life stuff that I have scribbled down or thought of over the past few days, with some equally mundane pictures. So I made it into a 10 things post. Congratulations in advance if you manage to read this all word for word.

1. I watched the ballet A Winters Tale a few days ago. Christopher Weeldon's choreography is always interesting and I love the whole classical feeling in Act 2, but not classical if you get what I mean. More contemporary with flexed feet in random places. Very technical terminology that!
Plus Edward Watson and Lauren Cuthbertson dance amazingly together, they create such feeling.

2. We were walking the other day when, surprise! We found a dead log that someone had painted....

3. Thoughts about - Cheerleader by Pentatonix

1. I never really liked the original of this song by OMI but with Pentatonix's fresh new take I love it!

2. The setting for the music video is awesome with just the right sort of vibe for the band and the song - Fresh, cute, funky taken old school.

3. Oh and one last thing I just HAVE to say: Kevin is literally a one-man band, I swear.

Here is a link to the video, please watch, these guys are awesome.
All views and opinions are my own, I really do think Pentatonix are awesome.

4. I have posted pictures of this coffee shop before at Christmas and again here so I am giving it it's very own label the hot chocolate shop!

5. A dragon doodle. But isn't it cute?!

6.  I took this when I was out with Jess and she was like so embarrassed I was taking pictures of rooftops, like "I don't know this person"!! *Sorry Jess*!!

7. Thanks to Duolingo I can now say in French - I am a snake! Hmm can't think of any situation where I would need to say that? Unless I was like an evil villain, mwah ha ha I am sneaky, I am a snake, Je suis un serpent!! Please do not analyse my stupid train of thought....

8. Cupcakes! My lil sister made these.

Things you should say to your cupcake before eating it according to the wisdom of a 9 year old:

1. What's your name?

2. Do you want to be eaten?

3. Tough luck, I need some sugar

Ok I added that last one.

9. These are a few pictures from that family day out that I mentioned. I haven't got round to editing the others yet, but should do soon.

10. Why is the 10th thing always the hardest to think of? I will just finish with an old photo that 11 year old me took for this post and I felt needed a 2nd chance x

To do or not to do....

Things to do in half term
Spend the morning on the sofa watching a documentary/film about Rudolph Nureyev followed by Breakfast at Tiffany's. Ahh, you should try this some time, it's really....relaxing....

Things you shouldn't do in half term
Go to the swimming pool when there is a "kids fun session" on. Seriously, they might be having fun, but I definately wasn't, sitting on the side waiting for the general swim to start, accompanied with screaming children and screaming toddlers and screaming adults....

Sorry I said I would have a more exciting post today but yh.... I have a more exciting day tomorrow, with some picture opportunities! See ya x

13 days till Christmas - That's Christmas to me

Today it was my last dance lessons before Christmas and our teacher let us warm up and stretch to some Christmas music in body con! You have know idea how fun it is to hop up and down to at double time to "All I want for Christmas is you" by Mariah Carey!! I thought I would do a little review on my favourite Christmas album at the moment:

That's Christmas to me by Pentatonix

Pentatonix is an a cappella group of five people who make and cover songs. "That's Christmas to me" is their new album and it is full of covers of traditional Christmas songs that have been Pentatonix-ified and made to sound even cooler.
The songs on the album include "Let it go" "Hark! The herald angels sing" and an amazing version of "Winter Wonderland" mixed with "Don't worry be happy" featuring Tori Kelly!!
My favourite is The Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy because it is such a traditional well known piece of music, yet when they perform it, it sounds completely strange and unfamiliar yet so awesome. That is the case with all of the songs on their album; you think you know the song "oh that old thing" but when you hear it, "woah".
You get the idea, it is a totally awesome present for anyone, I would recommend anyone to have a listen to it at least and I am basically gushing all over it....

See you tomorrow x

Sergei Polunin dancing to "Take me to church"

Ukrainian ballet dancer, Sergei Polunin dances to "Take me to church" by Hozier. This is amazing, his jumps are incredible, he almost seems to hang in the air! The  floor piece at the beginning is the best bit in my opinion, when he just suddenly leaps up and beats his legs behind him then lands again as if nothing happens - its awesome.

Strictly come dancing 2014 - should Jennifer have been in the dance off?

No (in my opinion).

Without being controversial, I think it should have been
Scott Mills and Joanne. Although he was arguably better than last week,
Jennifer Gibney was better overall.
Ok that sounds controversial.
